Charles Dutoit’s interest in the young generation has always held a special and important place in his life. He has successively been Artistic Director of the Sapporo Pacific Music Festival (PMF, 2000 to 2002) and the Miyazaki International Music Festival in Japan (2004 to 2009) as well as the Canton International Summer Music Academy (CISMA) in Guangzhou, China (2005-2007) and the Lindenbaum Festival in Seoul, South Korea (2009, 2010)
In 2009, he became Music Director of the Verbier Festival Orchestra. Their touring across Asia, Europe and the USA ultimately led to his appointment as Conductor Emeritus in 2017. He taught several masterclasses in Buenos Aires, Miyazaki, Guangzhou and Beijing, while being involved with some prestigious youth orchestras:
